August Newsletter
Hello to you, dear reader, on another fine Tuesday. I don’t know about you, but I keep forgetting it’s August. The sun is setting earlier, I noticed the sky changing has that look that only happens in the fall. It’s hard to believe we’re at that point in the year already.
School is picking up, pumpkins are around the corner, and I am once again finding myself busy like I didn’t anticipate. It’s hard work trying to put out content regularly, AND keep up with everything. As you may have noticed I missed a week in July and was a couple days late on my last post. It’s something that happened, and feels like it’s easier to happen when there’s five Tuesdays in a month. In either case it’s a recurring theme and I’m trying to get better. Progress is happening, even if it’s minuscule. I want to be posting stories and things consistently, but I also want to find the right balance where I can get work done on my bigger works, as well as spend time with my family. If having a baby is teaching me anything, it’s that time is fleeting.
That’s why I want to change and be working to get writing done, and not miss my daughter growing up. Oh, and adding to trying to keep my family afloat that I’m gearing up to work seasonally at a pumpkin patch in September and October. I keep wondering if I’m biting off more than I can chew. But it’s a great time to try to sell myself and brand again and mention that if you want to support my work, you can upgrade your subscription to a paid one. I don’t know that I’m gonna be able to implement any ideas for subscribers for a minute as I want to make sure I’m back on track and able to deliver on what paid benefits I’m gonna offer, but if you want to jump on now, you’ll get the perks when the time comes. And in the mean time you’ll be helping me be able to get my book edited and start the process of working on art. It’s getting closer and closer to getting here, and I hope you enjoy the book when the time comes.
Novel Update
I don’t want to write this part because I do not have an update on my first novel. It slipped past me. But I got a new computer and the need to use it is going to be strongly pushing this thing forward. I am so close to having he first draft done, and when that happens, my plan is to print it out when it’s done and give it a good first pass with highlighter, pen and see what really hits when I’m not just staring at the screen.
July Word Count: 0
I have also been working on some of the prep work for another book. I believe it’s going to be a Novella, but that’s just based on my initial gut telling on how much story I think I have from the idea. Hope to be sharing more about this one too in the coming months.
What’s In Them Eardrums?
Couple more albums that dropped in end of June and early July are on the brain this month.
Durry’s second album is another great album with multiple songs that are just easy to vibe to. Indie bands making their mark having blown up on TikTok is a really neat thing to see and their music is worthy of the viral status that sent them on their path to begin with.
Petey USA dropped a new album that is a contender for what will be my favorite album of the year. You may already know how much I loved a single earlier this year when it landed in this spot and the rest of the album is just as good. Add in the fact it’s produced by former Death Cab For Cutie turned producer Chris Walla, and it’s a standout album for sure.
